The 4th Annual Towne Lake Half Marathon, 10K & 5K will tentatively take place on Sunday, March 3, 2024 in McKinney, TX.
Proceeds from the this event benefit The McKinney Police Association.

Explore some of the best trails and views in Collin County. All three courses are USATF certified and feature beautiful views of Towne Lake and McKinney, Texas. All race participants (including 5K and 10K finishers) receive a 4-inch finisher medal and a gender-specific tech t-shirt while supplies last. The 4th Annual Towne Lake Half Marathon, 10K & 5K benefits McKinney Police Association. Definitely a cause and race swag worth running for!
Donations of services and products to the event are welcomed so that contributions to McKinney Police Association can be maximized.

Yes. All three events are timed.
Can I pick up a packet for someone else?
Yes. You may pick up a packet for a friend or family member. Please have their confirmation email or confirmation number available.
Can I change my packet pick up date or location?
Yes. You may login to your Race Roster account and update your packet pick up location on your registration record.

Can I pick up my packet on race day?
Yes. However, participants are highly encouraged to pick up their packets before race day. A friend or family member can pick up your packet with a copy of your event confirmation. If you decide to pick up your packet RACE DAY, ARRIVE EARLY and expect long lines. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, RACE DAY packet pickup is subject to change.

Can you mail me my packet?
Unfortunately, packets can only be picked up during the predetermined packet pick-up times and locations. They cannot be mailed. We will ONLY mail packets to VIRTUAL registrants. Please visit the Virtual FAQs for more information about Virtual Packet mailings.
Are there age group awards?
Yes. There are age group awards for all three distances.

Do I need to stay for the Awards Ceremony?
Awards Ceremony details are subject to change. Please review the pre-race email for more information race week. Typically, Age Group Winners will be announced between 8:30 am and 10:30 am. Age group winners must claim and pick up their Age Group Award during the Awards Ceremony at the AWARDS Tent on RACE DAY. Awards WILL NOT be mailed.
Is the race open to walkers?
Yes, however, please be courteous of others and start at the back of the pack as to avoid any collisions. Also, please adhere to the 3.5-hour course time limit. Police and course marshals will strictly enforce course closures at 11:00 am.
Will participants receive a finisher medal?
Yes, all finishers will receive a medal.
Do you allow MP3 Players and music devices?
Yes. Music devices are allowed; however, we ask that you be alert and aware of your surroundings.
Will you email me information closer to the event?
Yes, we will start to email updates one month prior to the event. Please make sure you are checking your spam box as it is possible your security settings don’t allow our emails to go to your inbox. In addition, if you previously OPTED OUT (unsubscribed) of receiving AMPT emails, you may not receive the pre-race emails or notifications.
Is there an age minimum or maximum?
No, the race is open to all ages as long as the participant can run or walk on their own. Please adhere to the 3.5-hour course time limit. Police and course marshals will strictly enforce course closures at 11:00 am. Thank you for your cooperation.
Are wheelchairs and strollers allowed?
All three race routes are wheelchair and stroller-friendly. For the safety of all, we ask that strollers and wheelchairs start at the back of the pack to avoid any collisions. Also, please adhere to the 3.5-hour course time limit. Police and course marshals will strictly enforce course closures at 11:00 am. Thank you for your cooperation.
Where are the port-o-lets located?
Park restrooms and Port-o-lets will be on the course near most aid stations. Port-o-lets and/or restroom facilities will also be available at the event site.
I’m registered for the race, but I can’t run due to a change in my schedule or an injury. Can I still pick up my packet?
Yes, please stop by the pre-race packet pick-up location to get your SWAG Bag and shirt. Please inform an AMPT team member that you will not be participating in the event so they can deactivate your bib. Please be advised that medals are reserved for FINISHERS and VIRTUAL registrants ONLY. Race packets WILL NOT be mailed, nor will REFUNDS, TRANSFERS or DEFERRALS be issued under any circumstances.
I can’t run. Can I get a refund or transfer my entry to a different race?
AMPT understands that issues come up that prevent you from racing as planned; however, as stated in our refund policy and waiver, we are not able to issue refunds, partial refunds, or deferrals. All participant entries are non-refundable and non-transferable under any and all circumstances, including, but not limited to, cancellation of the event.
I can’t run. Can I change my registration to a Virtual Race?
AMPT understands that issues come up that prevent you from racing as planned. You may transfer your subevent to the VIRTUAL RACE at any time up to 4 days prior to the event date. AMPT Running will not issue refunds or credits for transfers.
Please sign-in to your RACE ROSTER account and click the “TRANSFER” Button. To transfer the VIRTUAL event, you will be prompted to select the new sub-event and then to start the transfer. From there you will be asked to fill out the form and proceed with the new registration as normal. Please note: Virtual transfers are subject to a transfer fee and/or S/H fee.
AMPT Running will not mail packets to outside of the continental United States. Requests and transfer fee payments received after March 1, 2023 will not be accepted.
I can’t run the distance that I registered for. Can I downgrade to a different sub-event?
AMPT understands that issues come up that prevent you from racing as planned. You may downgrade to a different subevent at any time up to 4 days prior to the event date. AMPT Running will not issue refunds or credits for subevent downgrades.
Please sign-in to your RACE ROSTER account and click the “TRANSFER” Button. To transfer to a new sub-event, you will be prompted to select the new sub-event and then to start the transfer. From there you will be asked to fill out the form and proceed with the new registration as normal. Please note: Downgrade transfers are subject to a transfer fee.
Can I upgrade to a different subevent?
You may upgrade to the 10K or Half Marathon at any time up to 4 days prior to the event date. Please sign-in to your RACE ROSTER account and click the “TRANSFER” Button. To transfer to a new sub-event, you will be prompted to select the new sub-event and then to start the transfer. From there you will be asked to fill out the form and proceed with the new registration as normal. Please note: Upgrade transfers are subject to an upgrade fee and transfer fee.
Can I transfer or sell my race registration to a friend or family member?
No, the transferring or selling of your bib to another runner is not allowed under ANY circumstance. Due to USATF rules and regulations, each participant must register themselves and sign their own waiver. Any walker or runner who is participating with another participant’s bib number will have their race results disqualified and the original registrant will be permanently banned from running future AMPT events. Participating with another participant’s bib/data not only impacts age-category awards, but it provides inaccurate information in case of a medical emergency.

Is the course flat or hilly?
The courses are mostly flat. There may be a few slight inclines and declines throughout the route. The running surface is asphalt and cement.
If I arrive late, can I start and run the course anyway?
Runners will NOT be allowed to start late.
Is there medical help available on the course?
All police will have the ability to radio for ambulance assistance if needed. EMS will be available on the course and at the finish. We will also have race vehicles on the course to pick up those that need assistance.
What sports drink will you be serving?
Gatorade will be served at all water stations on the course. There will be a water station approximately every 1.5-2 miles on all three courses.
Can non-participants eat and drink the food available in the Food Tent?
The post-race food is generally meant for people who paid to be in the event. Please be respectful of this and the runners who need to rehydrate and replenish after the race. Vendors and sponsors will have sample foods and beverages available to both runners and spectators
How do I find out how I did (see my results)?
Results will be posted online. Results will list all finishers, and their time and their rank. You can also check your results here.
Are the roads open to traffic?
Some roadways may be open to traffic. Area police departments will monitor and control traffic along the route as needed. Traffic barricades and cones will also ensure the integrity and safety of RUNNER-ONLY lanes. Additional police details, signage and volunteers will be positioned at turns and key intersections.
My GPS watch was off. Is the distance accurate?
All three sub-events are USATF Certified and measured accurately. Please be sure to review the following article regarding GPS watches and accuracy. GPS Watches May Not Track Runs Accurately – NYTimes.com
Can I be guaranteed my shirt size?
AMPT does our very best to ensure you receive the shirt size you selected at registration. We will not allow shirt size exchanges until packet pick-up closes on RACE DAY. Please be advised that shirts are ordered well in advance and the sizes provided are used as estimates to complete the pre-race bulk order. For the best chance of receiving your registered size, please pick up your packet as early as possible. We recommend NOT waiting until RACE DAY. Due to COVID-19, shirt exchanges will NOT be allowed RACE DAY (after packet pick-up closes) as we allowed at previous events. Shirts WILL NOT be mailed under any circumstance.
What if there is a storm or inclement weather on race day?
There is no rain date for this race. The race director reserves the right to modify, shorten, or cancel the race due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances that make the race unsafe. Race management will work with police and city officials to determine if cancellation is required and/or if a rescheduled date is available and possible. Please see the AMPT Weather Policies for more details.
Can I register the day of the event?
Due to COVID-19, Race Day Registration is tentative. Please refer to the website as it gets closer to race day for more information. Please keep in mind that this race may SELL OUT. If this happens, there will be NO race day registration. We will post SELL OUT information on this website if this happens.
Do you allow animals at this race?
We LOVE our furry friends… but our insurance and permit restrictions do not allow animals at our events unless it is a service animal, which must remain on a leash or in a harness at all times. Service animals must be pre-approved through the event organizers. Please email customerservice@amptrunning.com prior to your race to register your service animal with us.
Is there a place to check personal belongings?
Yes. There will be BAG Check for this event since some parking is remote.
What is your promotions and coupon code policy?
All promotional dates and times are subject to change without notice. AMPT Running Company reserves the right to cancel any registration due to unauthorized, altered or ineligible use of a discount.
Promotional codes may not be applied to previous registration orders and may not be used on top of any other active promotion.
Promotional codes may not be combined or stacked. Only one promo code is permitted per registration and per customer.

WHAT IS A VIRTUAL RACE?
A virtual run event is similar to a traditional running event except the participant completes it entirely on their own. There is not a required location that the event must be completed nor a mandatory time. You choose the race, distance, location, and time. AMPT virtual events create positive motivation by awarding each race participant with a bib, shirt, and finisher medal.
DO I HAVE TO RUN THE 2023 VIRTUAL TOWNE LAKE HALF MARATHON, 10K OR 5K ON March 5, 2023?
Nope. Run or walk your race anywhere or anytime now through Nov 1, 2023. Many VIRTUAL participants will train for this event; therefore, they will run it on March 5, 2023 as if they were attending the LIVE race. However, you may chose your own time and place. Just be sure to submit your 2023 RACE RESULTS on or before Nov 1, 2023.
HOW DOES THE 2023 VIRTUAL RACE WORK?
Run or walk your race anytime and anywhere. Choose your time and place – trails, streets, neighborhood, treadmill, or wherever. Once you have completed your distance, simply submit your 2023 RESULTS PAGE, download your Finisher Certificate, and share your photos with everyone on social media. Be sure to use hashtag #VirtualTowneLake
HOW DO I SUBMIT MY 2023 VIRTUAL RESULTS?
Once you complete your distance, simply go to our 2023 RESULTS PAGE. Choose your event from the drop-down menu, then enter your VIRTUAL confirmation number and last name. Record your time, upload a screenshot from your running app (optional), and then hit submit. Don’t forget to print your Finisher Certificate and share your photos with everyone on social media. Be sure to use hashtag #VirtualTowneLake. VIRTUAL race results for the 2023 Towne Lake Half Marathon, 10K & 5K must be submitted on or before Nov 1, 2023.
IS THERE A MINIMUM AGE TO COMPLETE THIS VIRTUAL RACE?
Currently we have no limitations on age. We encourage all ages to take on our challenges and complete them.
DO I HAVE TO “RUN” THE VIRTUAL RACE?
Our challenges all have the same goal and the goal is to get you up and moving. It’s entirely up to you how you complete your race. So, whether you run on a treadmill, jog around the neighborhood, or walk laps around a track, AMPT virtual races are an ideal way to train for other events and to stay active.
I DO NOT LIVE WITHIN THE UNITED STATES, CAN I STILL REGISTER?
Unfortunately, price includes shipping and handling within the continental US only. We do not ship outside of the continental US.
DOES THIS VIRTUAL RACE OFFER REFUNDS?
Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds on registrations. You do have the option to transfer your registration to another person or select to have the full amount donated to the benefiting charity. Please email transfer request to customerservice@amptrunning.com.
DO I NEED TO SHOW PROOF THAT I COMPLETED MY VIRTUAL RACE?
While our virtual events rely on the honor system and we can’t force you to participate, we do LOVE seeing your results. You can post your 2023 results with photos to our Facebook page or post results to our 2023 RESULTS PAGE.
