The 2nd Annual Murphy Half Marathon, 10K & 5K will take place on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Tom Kimbrough Stadium. All proceeds benefit the Kyle Kucauskas Educational Foundation.

Explore some of the best trails and views in Collin County. All three courses are USATF certified and feature beautiful views of Murphy and Parker, Texas. The 5K run/walk is a scenic out-and-back course from the venue. The 10K and Half Marathon course takes runners along the streets of Murphy and through the peaceful country scenery of Parker. Runners will pass by the iconic Southfork Ranch, the setting for the 1980’s television show, Dallas. All race participants (including 5K and 10K finishers) receive a 4-inch finisher medal and a gender-specific tech t-shirt while supplies last. Half Marathoners receive a custom 13.1 Kyle Miles charm to attach to the Finisher medal. Definitely a cause and race swag worth running for!
Donations of services and products to the event are welcomed so that contributions to the Kyle Kucauskas Educational Foundation can be maximized.

About the Foundation
The Kyle Kucauskas Educational Foundation is a non-profit foundation that is dedicated to the development of future leaders in our next generation of law enforcement. In memory of Aaron ‘Kyle’ Kucauskas, a Murphy Police Sergeant who died in March 2013, the educational foundation provides educational assistance to students pursuing careers in the fields of law enforcement and/or criminal justice.

Is this a timed event?
Yes. All three events are timed.
Can I pick up a packet for someone else?
Yes. You may pick up a packet for a friend or family member. Please have their confirmation email or confirmation number available.
Can I change my packet pick up date or location?
Yes. You may login to your Race Roster account and update your packet pick up location on your registration record.
OR you may email email@example.com by October 11, 2020 and we will make the change for you. If it is after October 11th, there is no need to contact customer service to notify us of the change as we will have limited access to email and phone race week.
Can I pick up my packet on race day?
Yes. However, participants are highly encouraged to pick up their packets before race day. A friend or family member can pick up your packet with a copy of your event confirmation. If you decide to pick up your packet RACE DAY, ARRIVE EARLY and expect long lines.

Can you mail me my packet?
Unfortunately, packets can only be picked up during the predetermined packet pick-up times and locations. They cannot be mailed. We will ONLY mail packets to VIRTUAL registrants.
Are there age group awards?
Yes. There are age group awards for all three distances.

Do I need to stay for the Awards Ceremony?
Age Group Winners will be announced between 8:30 am and 10:00 am. Results will be posted in the RESULTS Tent (next to the AWARDS Tent) as they are available. Results will list all finishers, and their time and their rank. Finishers can also race results here. Age group winners must claim and pick up their Age Group Award during the Awards Ceremony at the AWARDS Tent on RACE DAY. Awards WILL NOT be mailed.
Is the race open to walkers?
Yes, however, please be courteous of others and start at the back of the pack as to avoid any collisions. Also, please adhere to the 4-hour course time limit. Police and course marshals will strictly enforce course closures at 11:40 am.
Will participants receive a finisher medal?
Yes, all finishers will receive a medal. Only Half Marathon Finishers will receive a 13.1 Kyle Miles medal charm.
Do you allow MP3 Players and music devices?
Yes. Music devices are allowed; however, we ask that you be alert and aware of your surroundings.
Will you email me information closer to the event?
Yes, we will start to email updates one month prior to the event. Please make sure you are checking your spam box as it is possible your security settings don’t allow our emails to go to your inbox. In addition, if you previously OPTED OUT of receiving AMPT emails, you may not receive the pre-race emails or notifications.
Is there an age minimum or maximum?
No, the race is open to all ages as long as the participant can run or walk on their own. Please adhere to the 4-hour course time limit. Police and course marshals will strictly enforce course closures at 11:40 am. Thank you for your cooperation.
Are wheelchairs and strollers allowed?
All three race routes are wheelchair and stroller-friendly. For the safety of all, we ask that strollers and wheelchairs start at the back of the pack to avoid any collisions. Also, please adhere to the 4-hour course time limit. Police and course marshals will strictly enforce course closures at 11:40 am. Thank you for your cooperation.
Where are the port-o-lets located?
Port-o-lets will be on the course near some aid stations. Port-o-lets and/or restroom facilities will also be available at the event site.
I’m registered for the race, but I can’t run due to a change in my schedule or an injury. Can I still pick up my packet?
Yes, please stop by the pre-race packet pick-up location to get your SWAG Bag and shirt. Please inform an AMPT team member that you will not be participating in the event so they can deactivate your bib. Please be advised that medals are reserved for FINISHERS and VIRTUAL registrants ONLY. Race packets WILL NOT be mailed, nor will REFUNDS, TRANSFERS or DEFERRALS be issued under any circumstances.
I can’t run. Can I get a refund or transfer my entry to a different race?
AMPT understands that issues come up that prevent you from racing as planned; however, as stated in our refund policy and waiver, we are not able to issue refunds, partial refunds, or deferrals. All participant entries are non-refundable and non-transferable under any and all circumstances, including, but not limited to, cancellation of the event.
I can’t run. Can I change my registration to a Virtual Race?
AMPT understands that issues come up that prevent you from racing as planned. You may transfer your subevent to the VIRTUAL RACE at any time up to 1 week prior to the event date. Requests to transfer to the Virtual Race must be submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than October 11, 2020. Virtual transfers are subject to a $25 transfer fee and must be paid via credit card prior to October 11, 2020. AMPT Running will not mail virtual packets outside of the continental United States. Requests and transfer fee payments received after October 11, 2020 will not be accepted.
Athletes who registered on or before March 21, 2020 may transfer to a Virtual Race with NO transfer fee through September 1, 2020. After 9/1, standard transfer fees will apply.
I can’t run the distance that I registered for. Can I downgrade to a different subevent?
AMPT understands that issues come up that prevent you from racing as planned. You may downgrade to a different subevent at any time up to 1 week prior to the event date. Requests to downgrade must be submitted via email to email@example.com no later than October 11, 2020. AMPT Running will not issue refunds or credits for subevent downgrades. Downgrade transfers are subject to a $10 transfer fee and must be paid via credit card prior to October 11, 2020. Requests to downgrade after October 11, 2020 will not be accepted.
Due to COVID-19 and the postponent of this event, athletes who registered on or beofre March 21, 2020 may downgrade with NO transfer fee through September 1, 2020. After 9/1, standard transfer fees will apply.
Can I upgrade to a different subevent?
You may upgrade to the 10K or Half Marathon at any time up to 1 week prior to the event date. Requests to upgrade must be submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than October 11, 2020. Upgrade transfers are subject to a minimum $25 tranfsfer/upgrade fee.
Can I transfer or sell my race registration to a friend or family member?
No, the transferring or selling of your bib to another runner is not allowed under ANY circumstance. Due to USATF rules and regulations, each participant must register themselves and sign their own waiver. Any walker or runner who is participating with another participant’s bib number will have their race results disqualified and the original registrant will be permanently banned from running future AMPT events. Participating with another participant’s bib/data not only impacts age-category awards, but it provides inaccurate information in case of a medical emergency.

Is the course flat or hilly?
The courses are mostly flat. There may be a few slight inclines and declines throughout the route. The running surface is asphalt and cement.
If I arrive late, can I start and run the course anyway?
Runners will NOT be allowed to start after 7:45 a.m.
Is there medical help available on the course?
All police will have the ability to radio for ambulance assistance if needed. EMS will be available on the course and at the finish. We will also have race vehicles on the course to pick up those that need assistance.
What sports drink will you be serving?
Gatorade will be available on the course and at the Finish Line. There will be a water station approximately every 1.5-2 miles on all three courses.
Can non-participants eat and drink the food available in the Food Tent?
The post-race food is generally meant for people who paid to be in the event. Please be respectful of this and the runners who need to rehydrate and replenish after the race. Vendors and sponsors will have sample foods and beverages available to both runners and spectators.
How do I find out how I did (see my results)?
Results will be posted in the RESULTS Tent as they are available. Results will list all finishers, and their time and their rank. You can also check your results here.
Are the roads open to traffic?
Some roadways may be open to traffic. Area police departments will monitor and control traffic along the route as needed. Traffic barricades and cones will also ensure the integrity and safety of RUNNER-ONLY lanes. Additional police details, signage and volunteers will be positioned at turns and key intersections.
My GPS watch was off. Is the distance accurate?

Can I be guaranteed my shirt size?
AMPT does our very best to ensure you receive the shirt size you selected at registration. We will not allow shirt size exchanges until packet pick-up closes on RACE DAY. Please be advised that shirts are ordered well in advance and the sizes provided are used as estimates to complete the pre-race bulk order. For the best chance of receiving your registered size, please pick up your packet as early as possible. We recommend NOT waiting until RACE DAY. Shirt exchanges will be allowed RACE DAY (after packet pick-up closes) based on availability. Shirts WILL NOT be mailed under any circumstance.
What if there is a storm or inclement weather on race day?
There is no rain date for this race. The race director reserves the right to modify, shorten, or cancel the race due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances that make the race unsafe. Race management will work with police and city officials to determine if cancellation is required and/or if a rescheduled date is available and possible. Can I register the day of the event?
Yes, see the event page for race day registration information, but keep in mind that this race may SELL OUT. If this happens, there will be NO race day registration. We will post SELL OUT information on this website if this happens.
Do you allow animals at any of the races?
We LOVE our furry friends… but our insurance and permit restrictions do not allow animals at this race unless it is a service animal, which must remain on a leash or in a harness at all times.

The top priority for AMPT Running Co is the safety and the well-being of our participants and supporters. Regardless of the environment, this is our top priority every day.
We have been closely monitoring the latest developments related to the COVID-19 pandemic and have been following the guidance from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local government and city officials.
To that extent, AMPT has postponed the Murphy Half Marathon, 10K & 5K until SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2020. Athletes who registered before March 21st will automatically be transferred to the rescheduled date. For those that the new date does not work, a virtual option will be available. Please stay tuned for more information coming soon via email and social media.
Please know that we are taking several actions to help you feel confident about your health and safety while attending AMPT events. We plan to provide extra hand-washing stations at our events as well as dozens of alcohol-based hand sanitizers throughout our event sites.
We hope that these measures give you confidence that we are taking the necessary precautions in this evolving situation. The utmost concern for AMPT Running is the safety and well-being of our runners, partners, sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and community as a whole.
